Refractive Surgery
The Williamstown Eye Centre provides the latest innovations
in refractive surgery.
People, who are mildly far sighted and need reading glasses,
can be treated at The Williamstown Eye Centre efficiently
and cost effectively with conductive keratoplasty (C.K.).
Other forms of refractive error requiring strong glasses
can be corrected and tailored to the individual patient’s
needs. Younger patients may benefit from implantable contact
lenses, such as the Artisan implantable contact lens. This
can also correct astigmatism and provide patients who are
unsuitable for laser with a safe refractive solution. Older
patients who are no longer able to accommodate for near may
well find that PRELEX, or presbyopic lens exchange, provides
them with the best refractive solution and this also avoids
the development of visual symptoms of cataracts later in life.

One of the main benefits of the implantable contact lens is that, if the refractive state of the eye changes, the lens can be removed and replaced with a different lens. |
This is
now a straightforward procedure and utilises many of the techniques
that have been well-tried and tested with conventional cataract
surgery. Thorough assessment of the eye is necessary before
contemplating any of these techniques and this can be performed
at The Williamstown Eye Centre with Dr. Stubbs.
